Adaptation Fund

Adaptation Fund is an international financial institution established under the Kyoto Protocol of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2001. Its primary mission is to finance climate adaptation projects and programs in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. These initiatives are aimed at reducing the vulnerability of communities and ecosystems to climate impacts, improving resilience, and enhancing adaptive capacities.

Impact:

Since its inception, the Adaptation Fund has committed over $900 million to support more than 130 projects worldwide, directly benefiting millions of people. These projects have helped improve resilience to climate shocks, safeguard livelihoods, and promote sustainable development.
